As Dinky takes the step towards singer songwriter and front stage performer with her forthcoming ‘Dimension D’ album due out on Visionquest in June; the impressive DJ is set to release her ‘Falling Angel’ single at the end of May, complete with seasoned producers Matthew Styles, who co-produced the album, and Pépé Bradock. The release features Dinky on the vocals and guitar, whilst Matthew Styles takes over the keys and electronics.
Starting the show is Dinky’s 12″ Version of ‘Falling Angel’ and has dark mysterious beginnings. Celestial vocals take to the main stage throughout the track and it’s subtle melodies roll between the dark and light mystery that is ‘Falling Angel’.
Matthew Styles presents the first of two remixes on this vinyl edition with his version of ‘Falling Angel’. Instantly transforming the celestial sound of the original, Matthew’s remix brings a masculine beat to the surface. Still capturing the dark and light elements of the original, the matured beat adds an added element that’s beautifully layered with the mesmerising vocals.
On the B-side, Pépé Bradock steps up for the final remix of ‘Falling Angel’ and is an impressive effort. Slow, celestial elements remain intact, until you are suddenly hit with darkened, mellow jazz beats that take over the rest of the track. Whilst expressing the dark elements through a distorted bassline, light elements are expressed through the vocal and melody.
On the whole, ‘Falling Angel’ is one of the most beautfully thought out masterpieces on the Visionquest label. You get this feeling that the album ‘Dimension D’, due out in June, is going to be one of the best albums in 2013. This release was meant to give us a taster of what’s to come on the album and it’s left me in real astonishment. As with all good releases, each remix has expressed the original elements in their own unique way.
Due out 27th May 2013 on Visionquest.
